Terms of service

Closed beta notice. Peppula — both this website (peppula.com) and the Peppula app — is currently a private, invite-only beta. These terms govern your participation in that beta. They will be replaced by full commercial terms before the service becomes generally available; we will notify registered testers by email when that happens.

1. Who we are

The Peppula service ("Peppula", "we", "us") is operated by Rajarshi Bhattacharjee, a Belgian registered sole trader (zelfstandige / indépendant), BCE/KBO number BE1028.715.583, established in Belgium. Contact: info@peppula.com. Once Peppula BV is incorporated, the contracting party will transfer to the company by operation of law and you will be notified.

2. Service description

Peppula provides owner-first website tools including Coat Check, wellness guidance and Peppy chat. The Peppula app provides professional groomer tools for coat assessment, appointment management, pricing and client communication. Professional groomer access and business details are handled through the app, not the public website.

3. Acceptance

By requesting access to or using Peppula you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

4. Beta access and account

Access is granted manually after we review your request. You sign in to the app with a Google account. We may refuse, suspend or revoke access at any time, with or without notice, including if we discontinue the beta. The beta is provided free of charge during this phase; no payment is owed and no subscription is created. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile > Delete Account.

5. AI-assisted assessments

Peppula uses artificial intelligence to suggest coat conditions and breed identification. These are suggestions only and do not constitute veterinary advice. You are responsible for all grooming decisions.

  • AI suggestions may be inaccurate — always verify with your professional judgment.
  • Peppula is not a veterinary diagnostic tool. Refer clients to a veterinarian for health concerns.
  • You can confirm, modify, or dismiss every AI suggestion.
  • AI output (in the app and in the website chatbot) is routed via third-party providers (Google Gemini, Lovable AI Gateway). We are not responsible for actions you take on the basis of AI output.

6. Your responsibilities and acceptable use

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of information you enter (dog names, owner details, grooming notes).
  • You must have the dog owner's consent before photographing their dog and before entering their personal data.
  • You must not use Peppula to provide veterinary diagnoses.
  • You agree not to use the service for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent or infringing activity.
  • You agree not to disrupt, overload, probe, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the security of the service.
  • You agree not to resell, sublicense, white-label or redistribute access without our prior written permission.
  • You agree not to upload personal data of third parties without a lawful basis under the GDPR.
  • You agree not to use the service or any AI output to create a competing product.

6bis. AI transparency (EU AI Act)

Peppula uses artificial intelligence to analyse the uploaded photos and help identify coat and skin conditions. The grooming plan, coat assessment and price estimate are AI-assisted. This tool is designed to support groomers and their documentation, not to replace your professional judgment or hands-on examination. It is not veterinary advice and does not replace a veterinary examination. In line with Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the AI Act), we inform you clearly that you are interacting with an artificial-intelligence system when you use the chatbot, the coat assessment, or the grooming plan and price estimate. AI output is generated content and is presented as such.

  • Support tool, not a decision-maker. Peppula assists documentation and estimation. It is not veterinary advice, not a medical or diagnostic device, and it does not replace your own visual and hands-on inspection.
  • Human oversight is required. You must verify every finding, condition, duration and price before grooming or before sharing an estimate with a client. Every AI suggestion can be confirmed, modified or dismissed by you.
  • Known limitations. A photo only shows what the camera captures; lighting, angle, coat colour, movement and hidden areas can lead to incomplete or incorrect results.
  • No guarantee, no liability. We work hard on accuracy but give no warranty of correctness. To the extent permitted by law, Peppula is not liable for grooming, pricing or care decisions taken on the basis of AI output.
  • Client-facing use. If you share a Peppula-generated plan or estimate with a dog owner, you must keep the AI-generated notice intact and not present the output as a veterinary or diagnostic assessment.

7. Your content and data

You keep ownership of content and data you submit. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process and display that content solely to provide and improve the service during the beta. Assessment reports generated by Peppula may be shared with your clients. You can export your data at any time (Profile > Export my data). You are responsible for the lawfulness of content you submit and for having any required consents from the data subjects it concerns.

8. Feedback

If you send us feedback, suggestions or bug reports, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free right to use them without obligation to you.

9. Intellectual property

The Peppula brand, software, designs and documentation are owned by us or our licensors. Nothing in these terms transfers any intellectual property to you beyond the limited right to use the service.

All content of the website peppula.com and of the Peppula app — including the source code, software, design, layout, look and feel, user-interface elements, workflows, text, images, illustrations, icons, logos, trade marks, videos, screenshots, product concepts, assessment methodology, pricing logic, prompts, databases and documentation — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, database, trade-mark and unfair-competition law.

You are granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to access and use the website and the app for your own professional grooming business during the beta. All other rights are reserved. Without our prior written permission you may not:

  • copy, reproduce, republish, mirror, frame, translate, adapt or create derivative works of the website, the app or any of their content;
  • scrape, crawl, harvest, index or use any automated means, bot or script to extract content or data, or use the content to train, fine-tune or evaluate any machine-learning or AI model;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to derive the source code, models, prompts or underlying methodology of the service;
  • clone, replicate or imitate the website, app, design, workflows or features to build, launch or market a competing or substantially similar product or service;
  • sell, licence, sublicense, rent, white-label or otherwise commercially exploit any part of the service or its content;
  • use our name, logo, screenshots or brand assets in marketing, comparisons or publications, or remove or obscure any proprietary notice.

Limited, fair quoting of short excerpts with clear attribution and a link to peppula.com is permitted. We actively monitor for infringement and reserve the right to suspend access, request removal, and pursue all remedies available under Belgian and EU law, including injunctive relief and damages. Report suspected infringement to info@peppula.com.

10. Pricing information

Pricing suggestions in the app are estimates based on Belgian market data. Actual prices charged to your clients are set by you.

11. "As-is" and no warranties

The beta is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of data loss. Back up anything you cannot afford to lose.

12. Limitation of liability

The beta is provided free of charge. To the maximum extent permitted by Belgian law, we accept no liability for any claim arising out of or relating to your use of the beta, including indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, loss of profits, loss of revenue, loss of goodwill, loss of data, incorrect AI assessments or breed identifications, grooming decisions made based on Peppula's suggestions, loss of data due to device failure or network issues, or any injury to dogs resulting from grooming decisions. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Belgian law (including liability for fraud, gross negligence, or personal injury caused by negligence).

13. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service at any time by deleting your account in the app or by emailing info@peppula.com. We will close your account and delete personal data in line with the privacy policy. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, in particular for breach of section 6 (Your responsibilities and acceptable use).

14. Changes to the service and these terms

The beta is under active development; features may change or be removed without notice. We may update these terms to reflect those changes, legal requirements, or the transition out of beta. The "last updated" date at the top will change and material updates will be communicated by email to registered testers.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Belgium, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of Brussels, Belgium have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the beta, subject to any mandatory consumer protection rules that apply to you in your country of residence.
